With the Taliban's entry into Kabul, Mujahideen government forces withdrew from the capital and the Taliban regime lasted for five years.

Most of the residents of the capital have a kind of story of September 27th of 1996. Everything changed for hours and slowly before the eyes of the people and the Taliban replaced the Mujahideen in Kabul.

This day of witnesses of this day is remembered moment by moment.

Tired of fighting between mujahedin groups, people with skepticism went to welcome another group, the Taliban. Even at first, the group's strict rules did not dampen those hopes. But some of the images and conversations that have taken place since then show that there are similarities between the story of a few months after the Taliban's presence in Kabul and the current public perception of that period.

For many of the girls and women who suffered before the fall of the Taliban, the group's takeover of the country's largest city did not mean the end of many hopes.

Shahnaz Ghawsi, a member of the Wolesi Jirga (House of Representatives), said the group had repeatedly beaten girls and women during the Taliban regime for violating its laws. This eyewitness account encourages her and other women to fight against the current and future problems of the country.
