Officials: 35 Taliban Killed in Clash with Security Forces

Authorities say several Taliban commanders were among those killed.

Local officials in Ghazni, Zabul and Samangan provinces say 35 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 17 others wounded in clashes with security forces in those provinces.

Local officials in Ghazni province say that the Taliban have attacked the Landa Khel area of Abband district of Ghazni province yesterday. But as a result of the resistance of the security forces, six of them were killed and five others were injured.

Authorities say three motorcycles and two night-vision binoculars were seized from the Taliban by security forces.

Meanwhile, security officials in Zabul province said that 15 insurgents were killed in an airstrike in the province.

According to the officials, the airstrike took place in Shahr-e-Safa district of the province and a number of Taliban weapons and vehicles were destroyed.

Meanwhile, security officials in Samangan province said that 14 Taliban insurgents were killed and 12 others were wounded in an attack on a police checkpoint in Dara-e-Suf district of the province last night.

Local officials in the province said the Taliban attack was shot down and the Taliban had fled the area after suffering heavy casualties.

Authorities say several Taliban commanders were among those killed.

But officials have not commented on the security forces' casualties.

The Taliban have not commented on the attacks.
