Ghani to parliament: We will not allow Akora Khattak madrassa to determine Afghanistan's future
Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday (August 2nd) called on senators and lawmakers in the Afghan parliament to help mobilize popular support against the Taliban.
"We will not allow the Akora Khattak Madrassa to determine the future of Afghanistan," Ghani said, without naming any country or individual.
"A plan is in place to change the security situation and in the next six months, the current wave of sedition in the country will end," he told an extraordinary session of the Wolesi Jirga and Meshrano Jirga.
This is the first time during President Ghani's tenure that such a session of parliament has been convened, and members of the Wolesi Jirga and Meshrano Jirga have come to attend the session on leave.
President Ghani, referring to the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban, said that the reason for the current situation was that the decision to withdraw the foreigners was taken suddenly.
"The management of the risks posed by the withdrawal of international forces is our responsibility and ours alone," he said.
"In this regard, the Afghan government has faced domestic and foreign propaganda aggression," he said
According to Mr Ghani, "We hear a lot of rumors. As the situation is due to a secret deal, no deal has been made, there was no mutual preparation and a little poor management in the middle leadership has created a state of doubt and ambiguity." "
He told parliament that Afghanistan was facing a major test and called on members of parliament to stand with the government to fight the Taliban. "I urge you to work together to build a brighter future for Afghanistan. Each of you has thousands of contacts, using your strong connections and networks to build national mobilization and Afghanistan can be given a decisive answer to the enemy. "
