President Ghani has called on the Taliban to call a ceasefire to end the 40-year-old war of attrition and stop playing with the fate of Afghans.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the International Day of Peace at the Presidential Palace on Monday, (September 21) President Ghani said that peace was possible only through political means and stressed that the government was working to end the 40-year-old war.
During the ceremony, President Ghani also called on the Taliban to call for a ceasefire.
Mr Ghani emphasized that the government was working on a number of post-peace programs.
President Ashraf Ghani said:
"What are you doing tomorrow? "At least 60 thousand to 120 thousand Taliban fighters must be mobilized and we have the same plan and preparation and we must attract four to six million refugees in the embrace of this country."
On the other hand, President Ghani called on the Taliban to call a ceasefire to end the 40-year-old war of attrition and stop playing games with the fate of Afghans.
"No one is interfering in the negotiations. Our delegation should be fully supported to represent the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan by force," Ghani said. "This is not the story of the Tulsi series (the target is the Indian serial that has been aired on domestic television for years) but the story of the Afghan nation, so we need to follow all these issues."
But the head of the National Reconciliation High Council is concerned about the consequences of a possible failure of peace talks.
Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the National Reconciliation High Council, said: If we miss the opportunity in this way and if there is a possibility of real peace, God forbid we lose the opportunity for peace if the other side does not want God to make peace. However, the problems of our people are increasing. ”
Despite the concerns and violence in some parts of the country, the people of the country hope that the outcome of the peace talks will lead to a lasting peace in the country.
