It is believed that covid-19 disease causes a person to lose their sense of smell. This is because the virus attacks cells in the upper part of the nose, throat and tongue.
A new scientific study has found that more people may believe that loss of sense of smell is a symptom of the corona virus than fever and cough.
The study, conducted by UCL London on 590 people who have lost their sense of smell or taste in the past year, showed that 80 percent of people have a strong immune system against the corona virus.
Forty percent of them had no symptoms, but research has focused on those with the most common symptoms of coronavirus disease.
Loss of sense of smell and taste since April has been a symptom of the corona virus, which was officially recognized in May.
Patients with these symptoms are now advised to isolate themselves from other people and get tested for the coronavirus.
But Professor Rachel Butterham, a researcher involved in the study, said many people see coughs and fevers as major symptoms of Covid-19 disease.
Data collected from laboratories in London from April 23 to May 14 showed that patients had lost their sense of smell and taste in the first four weeks of illness.
The result was that four out of every five of them had the corona virus, meaning they had already contracted Covid-19 disease.
All participants had normal symptoms, the study said.
Recent research suggests that coronavirus does not necessarily eliminate the odor of all infected people, but if the sense of smell is lost, it is likely that the coronavirus is infected.
Professor Bitterham says one of the symptoms of the disease is the loss of sense of smell, but the nose is not blocked.
It is believed that Covid-19 disease can cause a person to lose their sense of smell. This is because the virus attacks cells in the upper part of the nose, throat and tongue.
But this is different from diarrhea, because there is a change in the sense of smell or taste due to the blockage of the airway in the patient's nose.
Researchers at King's College London have previously said that 60 percent of people infected with the corona virus lose their sense of smell or taste.
