Mr. Qureshi also hoped that the visit of Mr. Abdullah and his accompanying delegation to Pakistan would open a new phase between the two countries.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said in a meeting with Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the National Reconciliation Council, that his country supports Afghanistan.

Mr. Abdullah left for Pakistan today (Monday, September 28) and met with the country's Foreign Minister.

Mr. Qureshi also hoped that the visit of Mr. Abdullah and his accompanying delegation to Pakistan would open a new phase between the two countries.

He welcomed Mr. Abdullah and hoped that the visit would "strengthen the relationship between the two countries and create a common understanding of the Afghan peace process."

Pakistan's foreign minister has reiterated his country's support for Afghanistan, adding that it has always said that there is no military solution to the Afghan problem.

"All sides are encouraged to work for an Afghan-led political solution," he said.

During Abdullah's visit to Pakistan, Mr. Abdullah will be accompanied by the deputies of the National Reconciliation Council and the President's Representative for Pakistan, Mohammad Omar Daudzai.

During his visit, Abdullah is scheduled to meet with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Ali and other officials to discuss the Afghan peace process.
